Our Story

Why I started Uncommon Ground.

I spent years as a student ministry leader at my local church. I planned events, taught the Word of God, and watched something remarkable happen over and over again. Teens from completely different worlds would walk into the same room and leave as family.

Different backgrounds. Different social status. Different stories. They came together because they had one thing in common: their love for God. I watched Him build friendships between people who had no business being friends. That is where the name comes from. Uncommon Ground. Because God meets you exactly where you are and builds something from nothing.

I knew it needed to be bigger than four walls. There are teens in Port St. Lucie and Stuart who need this and have nowhere to go. No Christian-centered community built specifically for them. So I built it.

"She has an unwavering dedication to teens and truly shows the Love of the Lord in everything she does."

Said about Bryanna by those who watched her work

Where It Started

This community has been growing for years.

Before UGI had a name, it had a heartbeat. Here is where it was born.

God was moving before we had a building.

For years Bryanna poured into the lives of teens through her local church ministry. Camps, retreats, late nights, hard conversations. She watched God take a room full of strangers and turn them into a family.

That track record is the foundation UGI is built on. Not an idea. Not a program. A proven, lived-out conviction that when you create a space where Jesus is present and young people feel genuinely welcome, something uncommon happens.

UGI is that space, expanded. Available to every teen in our community and not just the ones who already belong to a church.

The Scripture We Stand On

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

Jeremiah 29:11 through 13

What to Expect

Here is what actually happens.

Every gathering has a rhythm. Biblical, relational, real. Every person walks away knowing they were seen.

Welcome and Hang

Walk in, find your people, settle in. No forced icebreakers. Just real space to arrive and breathe.

Shared Experience

An activity or creative prompt that gets people present and connected before we talk.

Biblical Teaching

A short, honest reflection rooted in Scripture. Conversational and not preachy. Always part of the night.

Personal Testimony

Real stories from real people. Faith lived out loud and spoken honestly. Not performed for an audience.

Prayer

We pray together. That is part of who we are. You are invited in. If you are not there yet, you are welcome to just be in the room while we do.

Relational Closing

We wrap with connection and not a benediction. You leave knowing people and not just information.

This is a Christian space.
You are still welcome.

Every gathering at UGI is built on Scripture and real testimonies of faith. That is the point. We are a Christian organization and we own that completely.

We also genuinely believe the Gospel is for everyone which means everyone is welcome at the table. You do not have to clean yourself up first. Come as you are, encounter something real, and let God do what only He can do.

What we will never do

  • Pressure you into a decision
  • Treat you like a project to fix
  • Water down what we believe to make it easier
  • Judge you for where you are right now
  • Make your questions feel like a threat
FAQ

Questions we get every time.

Answered honestly and upfront.

Do I have to be Christian to come?

No, but we want you to know what you are walking into. UGI is a Christian organization. Every gathering includes biblical teaching and real personal testimonies. We are not hiding that and we are not apologizing for it. What we are also not doing is pressuring anyone. You are welcome exactly as you are.

Is there a cost?

Uncommon Thursdays is free to attend. If you want to paint during the gathering, bring $20 to $30. That is it. Nobody gets turned away for not having money.

What actually happens at a Thursday night?

You hang, do something creative together (usually painting), hear a short biblical teaching rooted in Scripture, listen to a real personal testimony, pray together, and leave having actually connected with people. It is real, faith-centered, and it moves fast.

Can my teen come alone?

Yes. We have trained adult leaders present every single night. Strict two-adult policies are in place and there is no private isolation ever. Your teen is safe.

What is the difference between Uncommon Thursdays and the full UGI launch?

Uncommon Thursdays is our current weekly gathering at Stuart Ceramics. It is a preview. The full UGI launch in August 2026 will be a dedicated 501(c)(3) program in Port St. Lucie built specifically for teens 13 to 18.

How do I get involved or support UGI?

Show up. Bring someone. Volunteer if you are an adult who leads well. Donate if you can. Partner with us if you run a business or organization. We need all of it.

For Parents and Families

We take your trust seriously.

Letting your teen walk into any space takes trust. Here is what we are committed to.

Christian-Founded, Pressure-Free

Biblical teaching and personal testimonies are always part of our gatherings. That is the point of what we do. Your teen will never be pressured, manipulated, or made to feel unwelcome regardless of where they stand in faith.

Trained and Vetted Leadership

Every adult leader is trained in safeguarding, mandatory reporting, and appropriate boundaries. Strict two-adult rules apply. There is no private isolation ever.

Accountable Operations

UGI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with board oversight and documented safety protocols. We are built to be accountable and not just well-intentioned.

We Are Reachable
